It should bring us hope to know that our blog is visited in increased frequency every single day. We should also take solace in knowing that our facebook group numbers, though slowly, are growing and even better yet, not decreasing. I am personally motivated by the number of organizations and groups out there trying to raise awareness and discussions regarding child molestation. It should make us proud! Sadly, I must report that we haven't even begun the process. You see, the secrecy surrounding child molestation is a national epidemic caused by voluntary mass ignorance. This fact is even obvious in these efforts and activities.
It's true! It really is! Take each of the above forums for example:
Papillon Libre Blog: The most frequently visited post is,When Childhood Trauma Leads to Suicide. The majority of our readers chose to read about the death of a victim. They don't choose, in nearly the same record rates, to read about, How to Spot Pedophiliac Behavior, Alone, or Who Should be Participating in Campaigns that Combat Child Molestation? Our readers don't readily choose to read about prevention, intervention, or advocacy.
Facebook Groups: The purpose of Facebook and Twitter is to raise awareness and grow our power through numbers. We are reaching out to victims and nonvictims alike. We are letting the secret out! We are killing the prevalence of child molestation by squashing the cycle of silence that perpetuates it. Makes sense, right? We have gone as far as offering money to members that actively rally additional support for our groups. Under a dozen participated.
Other Organizations and Group Discussions: I was so completely blown away and moved by a gentleman that recently posted in a Linkedin group, about child molestation. Guess what? He is not a victim, he just believes in giving voice to them. What a remarkable man! Well, he reports that his recent post was the most shared and the least read post in his entire blog. I shared this on our FB page and if you have yet to read it, Thank Him by doing so! He asks, "What are you doing to help?" Tell Him!
Even as said advocates for child safety we are falling short! We are falling victim to the exact mentality that imprisons its victims. We can't keep going this route! We must not be afraid to say what's true!
Papillon Libre wants to act as a platform for all levels of participation. We are a non-compete organization because we believe that there is power in numbers and don't believe that victims should continue going it alone! This is the place for victims, survivors, advocates, and all the other category of human! This is the place for anyone who thinks that child molestation is wrong!
So stand up and state your name!
